Units of Measurement

Arn: Unit of time approximately equal to an hour.

Brandar Tiles: Currency. John and D'Argo had theirs stolen on LoMo when they got rolled by the two feathered friends of Raxil Scratch ‘N’ Sniff

Cycle: Unit of time slightly longer than a year. According to John when he was talking to Furlow about solar flares, 4.8 cycles equals about five years. Til the Blood Runs Clear

Crindars: Scarran currency. Sikozu used it to try to buy her way off Elack from the Grudeks. When dealing with the traders who sold them maps of Tormented Space, Rygel altered the crindars to make them worth 12 times their original value. Crichton Kicks; Twice Shy

Dench: Unit of length possibly equal to about an inch. When Scorpius and his minions arrived on M’Lee’s asteroid and found Crichton gone he ordered a three point grid search of every dench of the asteroid. Bone to Be Wild

Fennik: Unit of currency. Stark used fenniks to excessively over-tip the staff in the commerce station when they carried his purchases. Suns and Lovers

Henta: A unit of length or distance. On Sykar, Rygel was “mere hentas” away from what he thought was an assassination attempt. It was really Rygel’s volatile body fluids exploding. Thank God It’s Friday, Again

Hetch: Measurement of speed. When D'Argo yanked the control collar wires, Moya hemorrhaged most of her iriscentent fluid and could only travel at hetch two. Later she managed hetch nine when she was attempting a slingshot maneuver. Peacekeeper Marauders have a maximum speed of hetch seven. Staanz’s pathetic little ship could get up to hetch four if it was moving at top speed. When Moya’s towing Talyn, she’s “crawling along at hetch three”.  Premier; Exodus from Genesis; The Flax; Eat Me;

Kalvo: The Scarran’s measurement unit for the level of stimulus he was using to break Crichton in order to learn why Scorpius wanted him. At level ten Scorpius (in John’s head via the chip) stopped John’s brain functions for a few microts to fool the Scarran into thinking John was dead. Won’t Get Fooled Again

Kelvoy levels: Possibly a measurement of energy. Talyn was given chromextin, a stimulant, in the hope that it would boost his kelvoy levels enough to bring him out of his paralysis. While Talyn was recovering, Crais said his calorics were rising. Thanks for Sharing

Klances: A measurement of heat. A budong’s stomach is an inferno and, according to Stark, it burns at 5000 klances. Green Eyed Monster

Kretmas: Currency. After the crew fumigated Moya with flames to get rid of the Karack metallite infestation they contacted Diagnosan Tocot and his assistant, Grunchlk. Grunchlk, who was negotiating the price for the doctor’s services, first asked 12,000 kretmas to treat Moya, then kept upping it until he got to the final price of 20,000. Die Me Dichotomy

Lenarts: Units of weight or volume used to measure quantities chromextin, a drug that would heal Talyn’s injuries. Thanks for Sharing

Lurg.jpg (8270 bytes)

Lerg: A unit used to plot coordinates on a grid. Throne for a Loss

Mallot: A unit of either weight or volume. Ancient Jack used a tenth of a mallot of partanium isotope to build his wormhole device. Infinite Possibilities, Part One: Daedalus Demands; Infinite Possibilities, Part Two, Icarus Abides

Metra: Unit of distance approximately equal to a kilometer (Although Moordil told Aeryn to keep going for another 300 metras when she was looking for the trapped children, I think he was probably mixed up from being in so much pain.)

Microt: Unit of time slightly longer than a second. Since D'Argo doesn’t have a watch John told him to count-down 300 microts using the old standby one Mississippi, two Mississippi, etc. But the translator microbes messed up and D'Argo counted using Mippippippis instead. Through the Looking Glass

Milon: When the military was searching Denea for the aliens, Commander Ryymax found D'Argo less than a half milon from Lyneea’s home. I, ET

Motra: 1/1200 of a metra; What Was Lost, Part 2: Redemption

Nanomoment: One billionth of a moment. When Rygel was bored and feeling sorry for himself he claimed that he used to have 50,000 servants worrying about his every nanomoment and during festivals he had more than twice that many. The Flax

Nilits: Wind speed measurement. The storm winds near the commerce station in the Sacred Stillness reached a speed of 300 nilits. Suns and Lovers

Parisims: Borlik used this as a unit of length for measuring the size of storm funnels in Suns and Lovers

Pemno: A unit used to plot coordinates on a grid

Sakmar: A weight measurement, originally from the Premiere script; according to Mr. O’Bannon, who was asked about it in a chat, it was dropped from the final edit due to time limitations. When Moya was filtering Aeryn’s blood to remove toxins, D'Argo told her that it wouldn’t hurt Moya’s baby because it was well over a sakmar. Nerve

Samat: A unit of length that was used by the Acquarans to compare D'Argo’s height to that of some of their warriors Jeremiah Crichton

Solar Day: Measure of time. It could be any length depending on what sun they’re talking about but generally taken to mean 24 arns.

Trad: A unit of power for Moya’s transport pod. When John and Aeryn were stuck in the flax, Aeryn increased power to 500 trads before attempting to escape. The Flax

Weeken: Approximately a week

Zachron: A unit of length. Staanz said that the flax was 75 million zachrons long. The Flax
