BLACK POSTS ON SCIFI BB
April
14, 2003 From
the SciFi BB:
Claudia
Black here...
This
is a quick e-mail to see if my handle and password still
work. It feels like an eternity since I have posted on
this site. But old habbits die hard. I wanted to touch
base with all our Scapers and say hi. I hope you are all
doing well and do not feel too scarred by the demise of
the show. Life trundles on . Goodness knows what awaits us
all.
I
am sure you will forgive my absense from this board. Last
time I tried to post was shortly after the news that
season 5 would not be going ahead. Try as I might, the
post would not go through. Fingers crossed for this one.
Let
me know you are out there.... and I will post back soon.Thinking
of you all,
Claudia.

"SCARE"
SCORES; "TREMORS" SHAKY
April 9,
2003 From Variety via The
Futon Critic
The
premiere of "Scare Tactics," the Shannen
Doherty-hosted series that plays ghoulish pranks on
unsuspecting people, chalked up solid Nielsens for the Sci
Fi Channel on Friday. But the second week of the network's
new "Tremors: The Series" fell off considerably
the same night after a stellar debut.
First the
good news: "Scare Tactics" brought in 2.16
million total viewers for its two back-to-back original
half-hours April 4 at 10 p.m., numbers 50% higher than Sci
Fi's primetime average. Program also funneled more people
18 to 49 -- 1.37 million -- to the network than any other
original series premiere in Sci Fi's history.
On the other
hand, "Tremors" harvested 2.43 million total
viewers over two hours during its two-episode premiere
week, but the series managed to deliver only 1.6 million a
week later from 9-10 p.m. Dropoff may
cause Sci Fi to reschedule the Wednesday primetime repeat
of the "Tremors" episode, which now comes just
two days before the new episode airs.

TOUGH PIGS REVIEWS
March 29, 2003: If you've never been to "Tough Pigs",
now is the time to go. Danny Horn, the webmaster, jumped into the show at the beginning
of Season Four and reviewed each of the episodes. His reviews are for the most part
hilarious, and sometimes they have quite a bite so make sure to bring your sense of
humor. Here's an excerpt from his "Bad Timing" review:
"Well, stay tuned for Battlestar F***ing
Galactica, I guess.
Which
just adds insult to injury, doesn't it? I mean, it's bad enough that they go and cancel
the only show on the Sci-Fi Channel that I have the slightest interest in watching. Then
they have to take that money and put it into shows based on the 1970's. They just showed
a miniseries on Children of Dune, from 1976. Next up is a miniseries based on
Riverworld, which was 1971. And they take this moment -- the series finale of Farscape
-- to spring the news on us that after that, they're doing a remake of Battlestar F***ing Galactica. Hey, I
thought science fiction was supposed to be looking to the future. Wha happen?"

BBC INTERVIEWS HENSON'S JULIET BLAKE
March 25, 2003 Excerpt: "...Once
a network makes its mind up that it’s going to move forward in a different direction,
it’s very hard to bring that show back to life because the actors have moved on, a lot
of the writers have moved on. I think we as a company in some ways have moved on."
In answer to a question about a movie, Ms.
Blake had this to say: "I wouldn’t say it’s planned, but we are thinking about
it and looking at how we could do it and what the economics would be, and thinking about
whether we will do that."

TREMORS REVIEW
March 28, 2003 From the Chicago
Sun-Times:
"Tremors" (8 p.m., Sci Fi
Channel): Michael Gross, who's come a long way from "Family Ties," reprises
his movie role in this series version of the crummy horror flicks about graboids,
shriekers and other bizarre vermin in Perfection Valley. How much tequila was downed
while coming up with this concept originally?
Sounds like must-see TV, doesn't it?

SFX
ARTICLE FARSCAPE UNPLUGGED
March
25, 2003: David Kemper, Ben Browder and Claudia Black
come clean about Sci-Fi and the cancellation in SFX #103,
on the stands now in the UK, in a few weeks in the USA.
According to Paul
Simpson, the writer of the article, it's
"edgier" than previous interviews on the
subject.
Here are a
couple of excerpts from the article:
Looking back, David Kemper notes
that, “It was rancorous from the beginning, to a degree.” Although the Sci-Fi
Channel gave the show a two season pick up at the start of October 2001, there were some
considerable strings attached, most important of which was that the show needed to widen
its audience.
On Sci-Fi’s publicity: “They
brought in a new team of people and we understood from the get-go that they didn’t
understand the show or like the show.” Sci-Fi wanted a bigger audience. Kemper says
that it was Sci-Fi’s job to get the audience, Farscape’s job to hold it.
"What you have is a network that
only has two original programmes cancelling 50% of its line up and it's the one that got
critical praise!"

AERYN ACTION FIGURE, UPDATE # 803697652
March 5, 2003:
It seems that yesterday's article was misread by some people that the Aeryn Action
Figure has been cancelled. As the article yesterday stated, the figure has been PUT
ON HOLD, which does NOT mean that it has been cancelled. If sales on the
Farscape Reunited figures are not high enough, the figure will be cancelled, but it has
not been cancelled yet. If the figure is released, it will be out in May, but Toy
Vault has not begun production on the figure and they won't begin production until they
get some orders from retailers, who are shy about ordering merchandise from a show that
has been cancelled. Click Here to read yesterday's
original article
I hope this clears up any misconceptions due to the
misreading of the original article.
